Absences
Pigeons flapping
across abandoned squares.
Clothes peg dripping
raindrops from a deserted line.
Ile Ste. Croix,
lonely in the bay,
longing for Champlain’s
return.
Endless rock and roll
tide after tide
water without end.
A whole day goes by
without putting
pen to paper.
The blank page
waits for the pencil’s
resurrection.
I’m having that blank page kind of stretch right now. You have been prolific! Being around so many wonderfully creative people must really fire the imagination and inspiration!

It does. Lots of metaphors and the rhythms are fascinating, changing with Carlos’s music, probably.

What a pleasure to have a ‘soundtrack’ to your artistry!

He is great, as I say. His music changes the rhythms of what I write and it also places new moods and rhythms within my written work. A neat combination: I find different ways to ead.

Pen to paper … fingers to keyboard. I am having a writerly day, cleaning kitchen at intervals with editing … perhaps you need a kitchen to clean … only kidding!

So glad to se you here, Jane. I’ll be thinking of you all when you meet on the tenth. This is indeed a writerly little world and I am enjoying every minute of it. All the best.

And we will think of you. And eat your share of the potato salad. A hot day today. Revel in the ability to focus on your creative self. Remember: Not writing is also writing. Jane

You may all share in my potato salad … I donate it with great goodwill. I hope this ‘hot poetic streak’ continues. I am really enjoying the flow of ideas.

‘clothes peg dripping raindrops’. Love it, and the rest of it too.
