I remember when I felt sorry for these poor creatures.

Suddenly, I feel jealous.
Oh to be up to my belly in snow.

This is Canada.
Think cool.
Think slow.

It won’t be long
before we shovel snow.

We’ve been having a strange summer – very rainy, cool temperatures with an occasional blast of extreme heat. I surely hope you stay safe from fires! We’ve been watching California burn – it’s heartbreaking!

Cloudy this morning, and we may have a T-storm watch on the way. Cool overnight, too.We have two fires in the north of the province and one, a little ore local, was successfully put down. Trees as enemies: a terrible thought, though it isn’t the trees, really. The deer are walking through our backyard, incidentally. That’s the view from the kitchen window! As for the burnings: we can only send thoughts and prayers. Those disasters are so devastating. Ice storms in the winter, flooding in the spring, and flames in the summer. It is indeed a Brave New World.

Seriously, perhaps the dystopia is upon us and we haven’t caught on yet! Take good care, Roger!

I’ll do my best, Meg. I think the dystopia is very close … and some people can’t wait to take advantage of it. This is a no-name game … just a vague … ‘some people’.

Hi Mr.Cake: there’s something about that virgin snow. Great to see you here. Belly deep.

Well I am glad we are back in touch. Very rainy today but the summer has been very hot and dry.

Very hot here, well above average, but going down lower overnight. We are all on a heat warning, except the coast, and a forest fire watch. We are surrounded by trees: it’s hard to suddenly think of them as the enemy.

We had no rain for over two months…extraordinary, though things in the last few days are more normal. Keep safe Roger…you know my paranoid view of things, everything is a potential enemy. A teddy bear is very cute until it is being rammed down your throat.

I am following the cricket on the computer: England playing a leg-spinner because the grounds are so dry? We may have rain on the way today: we certainly need some.

England hasn’t had rain for longer on the east side anyway. Hope you get rain soon.

Ashwin took four fairly cheaply … ah, the joys of an Indian off-spinner with seven lefties in the batting line-up on a dry and dusty wicket!
