Lost
Where can it be? I put it
somewhere safe, but I
can’t remember where.
So many things grow legs,
go absent without leave,
walk out of my world.
I am slowly losing control.
My life will soon be left
in somebody else’s hands.
They will control my wants
needs, and necessities.
Then I too will be lost.
Placed somewhere safe,
perhaps, there to lie forgotten,
abandoned, secure, perhaps,
but who knows at what cost.
You have been looking over my shoulder, haven’t you. Last night I finally found a few things I thought were gone forever, placed in such obvious sites around undisturbed walls but missing when I opened the boxes to get them out. I’ve been blaming a totally innocent poltergeist for taking them but now he has put them back in not so obvious places.

It might be the fairy in the fairy house. They can be quite willful if neglected. I seem to remember, from a long and almost forgotten past, that once upon a time, there was a prayer to St. Anthony? Or maybe it was San Antonio?

Well, St Anthony is the patron of lost things, St. Jude of lost causes, and several others that are supposed to help in finding lost articles. I usually just go to the Big Fellow with my tearful pleas to help me find that pen I just put down on the table 30 seconds ago. Once in a while it even works!

I think their roles sometimes change slightly between France and Spain, Europe and America! I guess the Big Fellow doesn’t change much. Not even among the Anglicans – “Immortal, invisible, the ancient of days…”

Very true. I think we just all have our favorites. Mostly mine are lost causes though or at least they seem lost until I pull out cartons after months of being hidden under the table and there, as big as life, is the object I’ve been searching for but can no longer remember why.

Welcome to the club. We should have a badge and a theme song. The Whiffenpoof song, maybe. ‘We’re poor little lambs…” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJVUTHLFdQ0

Oh yes. I love the Wjoffenpoof song. I’ll have to think of a nice badge to go with it!

That painting is not lost! It is in a new formatted golden frame, perched on a simple wooden table at the feet of a sand angel, under a painted crystal orb.

That is so lovely Louise! I am surrounded by them here – all shrieking colour from the walls.
