Swans at Swansea
Fish nets still stand
on Swansea Sands.
The tide washes in and out,
sweeping our footsteps away.
Nothing remains each night
save dreams of starfish
shimmering in golden galaxies.
Out in the bay, angelic figures,
ghostly, swimming swans.

Thank you. I am trying to recycle the lines (saved) that didn’t quite fit into other poems. Simple images, well worth saving, then elaborated. Your comment is much appreciated and a great encouragement to continue with the experiment.

Thank you again. Recycling: it reminds me of my grandfather un-knotting string and my grandmother unpicking old sweaters to make new socks for the grand kids.

Thanks, Chuck. I am trying a new form of writing. I keep everything I reject, but some of the images are good, so I have started to recycle the rejections. I’ll put them in a recycling file and see what happens.It is a good source of metaphor and image.
