Scribblings
Words and thoughts
and symbols and images and
metaphors and myths
and all things missing and
some present in-between sheets
lined and unlined as a line of ants
crosses the kitchen floor
in search of sugar so sweet
these dreams where truth
and lies and smiles and
sighs seize highs and lows
and the light and
dark of a life as it might
have been and was perhaps
on another planet
in my darkest dreams
and my sharpest awakenings and
if I am dreaming then let me sleep
on and on and never wake up
to what passes as reality
I love this piece! It not only reminds me of dreams, but the persistent image of those ants marching along the floor reminded me of how we think about those dreams, put them to paper, build on them, crave them.

Glad you like it, Tanya. It came out of nowhere, late last night. Another raw poem. Sometimes they do produce interesting images.

Agreed! I think that is sometimes when we get our sharpest images.

Oh to live in dreams… though I must admit, mine can be pretty weird. And I hate when I have them clearly fixed (or so I think) in my head and by the time I pour my first cup od coffee they’re gone. I hope your aches and pains are easing? And your hand is getting back to good form for writing!

All is well, post icing and ointment … as for the dream world, I have been able to re-create many of the poems and stories I have dreamed up in my dream world … I’m not sure why this should be … I was far from being able to do it earlier in my writing career … something must have changed .

That’s interesting… maybe you have become more attuned to it as you have matured. I wonder if it happens to just a few people or many and you are aware of it because of your writing. Hmmm.

All good questions and theories. As for maturing, I was at a conference last year and a lady asked me where I had grown up and I replied “I don’t think I have yet.” maturity was never in my personal dictionary …

Fantastic! That is an excellent approach!

Clare wouldn’t always agree with you … I guess I may have to grow up one day, but I hope not …

Well I hope not, too. 🙂
